Lethargy

So I’ve got a cold/flu thing which is just great because I have a mountain of work to get through and all I want to do is sleep.

To make matters even more annoying I managed to miss the introductory Niceway lecture yesterday. I blame this on the fact that there was no explicit email, though it was mentioned on the lab week timetable webpage. (So no excuse really which just makes it all the more annoying.)

On the plus side the Verilog code is done and all that remains to be done for the first Gateway assignment is the report write-up. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I’ll have that finished as well as the signals and systems assignment, circuit theory assignment and a professional issues essay plan.

Today’s tasks are to get some of the operating systems practical done and out of the way as well as to get hold of a copy of the Niceway labs manual.

Halfway There Already (Week 5)

Having a nice relaxing day off after another busy week at uni. My last post was during week 0 and thanks to my uncertainty on posting I have managed to neglect my blog. I’m feeling slightly less stressed now thanks to the following week being a lab/reading week, allowing time to concentrate on practical work and ensure an understanding of the first half of course modules.

OS practical reading and first part
Circuit Theory assignment
Signals and Systems assignment
PSPICE assignment
Individual practical reading

It’s funny how fast time passes when you’re gainfully employed as opposed to being depressed and moping about all the time. I think I’m happier because I have resolved many of the problems I was referring to in the 2005-07-17 post. In another 5-6 weeks we’ll be having electrical engineering exams and then the first semester will be over, both an impressive and scary concept.

I’ve altered my course slightly to avoid doing the SDP and took the individual practical and computer security modules instead. It overloads the first semester but in the long run it should be much less stressful than carrying out the SDP. I am now taking the following modules:

1st Semester (70 credits):
CS-SE Individual Practical
Operating Systems
Professional Issues
Electronic Engineering 3
Microelectronics 3

2nd Semester (50 credits):
Communication Engineering
Compiling Techniques
Computer Architecture
Computer Security
